lol.........Your also a good girl I see............. :D

Bingo.......sucks...I wanted to punch this old lady out 1 time
casino.........good money, but it's a nightmare
boot drive...... sucks + you cant get people to show up
car wash........if you can get some LAZY bastards to show up you can make a couple of dollars.
It's hard to make money these days. Someone has to get hurt or die before people come out of there pocket for the fire dept. these days.

idea for hosnudownhunny
try organizing a bull roast (shrimp roast, something roast) or crab feast (in season, unless u have a connection (PM me I have a few)....but the key is to have unlimited beer, try to get a sponsor first (like budweiser or coors, contact pgc, hfs, dc101, kys also) to help out, usually they'll let you get in on a cheap deal or beer truck....

try to keep in mind, it's better to pre-sell the tickets to the event.....pre sell for cheaper than at the door, like 5-10 bucks cheaper...
try to do it outside, rent a tent if need be, they're cheap (or borrow one)

after all of this planning, you can add small money makers to the function; ie: money wheel, some kind of kid game (for the kiddies), 50-50, stuff like that....

or, add a DJ, (there are plenty in the fire departments that could do it for cheap)

it takes a lot of planning and work to run one of these events, but they make money and people love to eat.....

if you do some kind of seafood event for 300 people at 45 per ticket (35-40 reduced) it averages about 13,000 dollars, minus costs (seafod is the most expensive cost), but you make it up in the little games and gimmicks you add to the event.....

if you do good, you can have like 2 a summer....

one of the things we do every year that works good is have a raffle,we go pass them out door to door, 24 tickets in an ewnvelope and a letter explaining what we're raising money for. tickets are $1 each or 12 for $10, with 24 tickets per envelope (on a perforated sheet). grand prize is $1000, 2nd and 3rd prize is $500. this can work good if you have a small community (ours is approx. 2 square miles) or if you have a large area you can try direct mailing them. another thing we've done which worked well was have a plain old fashioned giant yard sale. all the members donate an item/items to sell. i'm sure just about everyones got stuff just laying around collecting dust in there basements or attics. the raffle is something we've done every year that always draws alot of money, we managed to get a thermal imaging camera this way. the yard sales is something we've done a couple times only.

We print calendars for two local volunteer companies. They hand them out to each resident of the district, along with a form letter and a return envelope. The letter explains what the department is doing, and requests a donation. I don't know how successful it is (i.e. how many people send in $$) but they've been doing it for years, so apparently it makes them enough to be worthwhile.

A number of other dept's in the area have various raffles of one type or another. Pancake breakfasts and Vegas Nights are another popular idea, as is the Coin Toss on the road in front of the station (usually done on holiday weekends).

We do an annual "car show". Charge 20 bucks for all the local hot rod & antique car buffs to enter their ride & we get Budwesier as a sponsor. We've been doing it about 15 years and have at least 400 cars a year. Each Entrant gets a gift bag donated by Budweiser and the Fire Dept. The cars are showcased on the city streets & we do raffles, food, and a BEER garden where these old shmucks will buy 50 bucks of raffle tickets for a BTO or REO speedwagon CD and pay to pose in front of their car for a picture with the Bud Girls! Works great & some years we even throw in a 50's or 60's themed dance at a local social hall. Good Luck & as long as you keep it different & include beer for your community its a sell out!!

Thos are all great ideas........We've been trying different things........

Car Washes, Spaghetti Dinners, Sandwich Sales, Haunted Houses, Chicken BBQ's, Dances

I did have an idea for a Fireman's Ball thing.....cuz you can make big money off of it, but it's the planning and everything that's a real big killer.

A smaller dept in our area does pancake breakfest a few times a year and makes a killing.. Some of the other depts give away bikes and 4 wheelers. Our dept is still stuck on the feild day idea... what a pain

just look at what psu listed that is pretty much what we do in a years time -- gun raffle really brings in alot of cash -- and the beer tickets also do real well

also hosenu -- waitin for u to come to the glo so we can put a calender together -- that would be a sellout

In my Dept here they do monthly sunday breakfasts. When the people come out of church they go to the fire co breakfast. we get a few hundred people each time bc we have it beside the church in town. its liek 3.50 or so a person.

Guys, who the hell are we kidding? Stripper night is where all the bucks are. Remember Rsiky Business? Wanna make some huge dough? You have to look at the sex industry. Raffle tickets are good but, they are even better if there are naked girls on the back. Dances? I agree but lets have professionals do the dancing. I also recommend that if you do this, get some probie to clean the pole and the mirror. Casino Nights Rock! Don't forget the hotties running around serving drinks. I could go on and on but if I do, Lost will have my ass. All in good fun Hunny, try a raffle of your picture. From the results of the poll you could rake in a mint.

I have run a Bowl-A-Thon for a couple of years. Very painless! Always consider your expenses before a price is set to participate. Thus you can ballpark how much money you will make from the event.

Firemans Ball works great too... then again it takes a while to establish it with the community. Were comin up on about the 120th year for an annual ball. Sell tickets door to door for a few weeks on drill night, hook up some entertainment, raffles, and sell beer tickets for a few bucks! Good luck hosenu... Would you like to be my guest at the Firemens Ball?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having a "Mens Entertainment Night" is not a bad idea. You just gotta make sure you check the laws in your area to be certain it is legal. Also, be prepared to lose a few supporters in your elderly and religious communities. But when you show up to help them in that nice new Wagon or Ambulance, few people will turn down help because strippers helped pay for it!

You can even have a night with Male Dancers for the Ladies in the Community. A night for the ladies, a night for the men.....two nights a month. I can guarantee you will bring some funds in that way!

Chief 601 I am with you on this one!
