Anyone else out there into amateur radio?

I've been a scanner buff all my life, and recently got into amateur radio so I can be involved with area SkyWarn activities on my days off. Since getting licensed, I have learned there is so much more than SkyWarn to do. I love it!

Yep. Been a Tech for a while now. Don't talk much though. No better resource to have during Isabel, considering most phones were out...

I upgraded to General in December, but haven't used it yet. Too many other priorities with raising kids and all to worry about getting an HF rig. I am going to try this summer to upgrade to Extra. Eventually I'll even get an HF rig!

A higher ranking officer tried to tell me just what hams can and cannot do the other day. I don't remember how the conversation started, but it ended with me explaining that I am the VP of the local club and offered him more info on getting licensed. He's a know it all anyway, and it didn't surprise me that he wasn't interested. Oh well.

Stay safe.

I have been a tech for about 12 years I think, great asset although most EOCs seem to think that its nothing but high powered CB. Wait till a tornado takes out their towers and see who they call for communications!
