SCEMS is a very progressive, quality assurance driven provider of ALS service. The relationship between the workforce and management, let alone our county administration, is way better than it is in other services. Pay is for the most part comparable to other places. What we lack in dollars & cents in pay, we more than make up in other areas of incentives - at least in my humble opinion. Our stations, fleet, equipment, and training facility are top of the line and only getting better by the day. Call volume varies depending upon which part of the county you get assigned to. The summer months are definitely busier - especially at the beach; but pretty much steady through the year otherwise. As with NCC, the State certification process applies where a new hire is paired with an FTO for extensive field evaluation prior to clearance to ride solo. Currently we are up to, or near, full-staffing with the current class of students and new hires in the State certification process. To the best of my understanding, applications will be taken and held until the next round of interviews for new hires. Again to my understanding, once interviews are completed, anyone not selected for hire may be placed on an eligibility list. I can not speak fully for the duration of or process involved with job offerings from eligibility list. If there is an interest in employment with SCEMS I highly encourage you to obtain the application packet and review it. If an applicant does not possess a certification listed, it may be in their best interest to obtain it prior to interview. During the interview an applicant will be placed before a panel of Senior Staff and various training officers for an oral board and practical skills evolutions. Upon satisfactory completion of the oral boards and practical skills the applicant will then go before the Director and other members from Senior Staff for further interview.

I encourage you to put SCEMS at the top of your list. Truly one of the most amazing places that I have ever worked, and well summarized by the previous entry! I would encourage you to come and look at the system and the area and form your own opinion.
Best of Luck!
