Good / bad ... Depends on who you speak to.

Good place to work ... It's better to speak with one of their employees for the best answer(s). Some like it there, others are bitter.

How busy ... They get their asses spanked, urban EMS.

Pay ... Better than average, so I hear.

Schedules ... Main shift is 2-2-4. Power shifts (Medic 9 and maybe Medic 8, not too sure about the second) 12hr shifts, days-only, on a odd rotation of two on, three off, then it reverses (or something like that).

Openings ... Umm, being as they just LAID OFF nine or so, including terminiating the entire class of students that were either just starting or near completion of their 18 month schooling at Del-Tech, and more layoffs are apparently pending... I would say it may be a while before there are any openings.

Academy ... If you are pre-certified and manage to get hired, all new hires (statewide) go through what is called the "Out of State Process". Basically, it's a rigorous field training period in which candidates ride with FTO's to make sure each candidate is capable of functioning to Delaware's standards of care and skill competencies. QA/QI is a big thing here.

I do not work for NCC EMS, but please trust that my information is valid.
