I meet and hear from alot of members with good ideas and some bonehead ones also, I think that it's time to start putting your name in the hat. I will be putting my name in who's next:)

So become a helmsman, instead of one of the tars on the deck who spends his entire career bitching about how screwed up things are, but who never utters a constructive thought.

It's old and it's tired, but it is true...'if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem'.

I have plenty of constructive thoughts but when they only fall on deaf ears it's pointless, it's akin to pissing up a rope, spitting in the wind....you get the idea !!!

And who might superman be???

Uptown got it's hustlers
The bowery got it's bums
42nd street got big jim walker
He's a pool-shootin' son of a gun
Yeah, he big and dumb as a man can come
But he stronger than a country hoss
And when the bad folks all get together at night
You know they all call big jim "boss", just because
And they say

You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with jim

Well outta south alabama came a country boy
He say i'm lookin' for a man named jim
I am a pool-shootin' boy
My name willie mccoy
But down home they call me slim
Yeah i'm lookin' for the king of 42nd street
He drivin' a drop top cadillac
Last week he took all my money
And it may sound funny
But i come to get my money back
And everybody say jack don't you know

And you don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with jim

Well a hush fell over the pool room
Jimmy come boppin' in off the street
And when the cuttin' were done
The only part that wasn't bloody
Was the soles of the big man's feet
Yeah he were cut in in bout a hundred places
And he were shot in a couple more
And you better believe
They sung a different kind of story
When big jim hit the floor now they say

You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with slim

Yeah, big jim got his hat
Find out where it's at
And it's not hustlin' people strange to you
Even if you do got a two-piece custom-made pool cue

Yeah you don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with slim

Well, it is a bit early. But, I will almost certainly campaign and run again, depending on what life throws at me between now and then.

Unless I missed the point of the thread, it was intended to see who was willing to man up and run for the Executive Board, not about how useless it is to bring forward issues. If the current Executive Board is unable or unwilling to address the concerns of the membership, then the best way to change that mindset is to change the bodies who possess those mindsets.

Hook - I think everyone who reads TWD understands the low regard in which you hold the current administration. We all get the point. The first 1500 posts or so were amusing; now it's getting tired.

Oh, and while I'm at it, I'll say it again this year. One of you needs to submit a change to the Constitution and By-Laws about changing the vote weight of the active-retired members like me. There is no reason that I, or any other retiree, should have a full vote in the Local 36 elections. Half vote, maybe. No vote, not a bad option. Let the members who are directly affected by the Executive Board's decisions be the ones to decide who should represent their collective interests.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox and go back to my soap operas.

And what are your thoughts on a retiree being Union President?

Just think of all the free time you will have soon! After the thrashing, that is.

+1 Brooks for Prez.

He has the intelligence necessary to fulfill the job requirements, plus the mastery of numbers(all the mayor & chief seem to understand) to get us what we need.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mr. Stern, however, it's extremely doubtful that I'll run for president.
