I wondered why the DCFD Watch desk never has up to date issues concerning The DCFD and I was told that the person that controls these things is one of Chief Rubin's Right Hand Men and that is the reason no controversial issues appear on the Watch Desk. GIVE IT UP, WHO EVER YOU ARE!

Here, if you think that TWD has a heavy hand, go elsewhere. There are dozens of social networking sites that offer you to spout whatever you like. You could start your own blog.

As a point, you can self-post all you want at www.reddit.com/r/DCFD

I'll never moderate anything there. I might not ever read anything there, but I'll certainly never moderate anything.

I am going to answer this question of control.

The watchdesk is currently being administered by a retired captain from DCFD. Basically he has help start this website, and took over the web admin part to prevent the present administration to “influence” what does and more importantly what does not get posted.

As far as up to date issues, that is not this website administration job, this belongs to those who post here, you’re the ones responsible for posting items, if you want current issues posted - do so. For what is worth I know of only a couple of reporters who do post here, but none of them ever posted new information.
Perhaps if someone wants to post new or current issues concerning the DCFD, E-mail me or IM, I set you up. -HD#1 or brooks -interested-

The only items that I will delayed or even delete will be those that involve local 36 issues and their negotiations with the city. If I see something, I will contact them and ask them about it, However to date no one within local 36 organization has asked something be delayed or removed.

Second, this goes to you hookman, I nor others have not prevented you from posting here, this goes to others who post here. What I have done is to make sure you follow some basic guidelines. In fact Hookman I been pretty free in letting write whatever you want when compared to other websites that I administer.

For those who do know me, they definitely know I am not a friend of Dennis Rubin, and I am not on Chief Schultz Christmas card list. In fact you can say I was passed over for BFC by this administration more times than road kill on Suitland Pwky. due to Chief Schultz, and when I did take the time to find out why, Chief Schultz wrote that I did not have the "qualities" to be a BFC, gave the order that I will be placed on charges if a ever tried to contact him about this issue again. This answer always confused me since I was never given the opportunity to be interviewed for BFC, but yet again this last administrative item seems to have been dropped from the BFC candidate list.

Going back to who and what gets posted, this thread is governed by those who post here, being on the outside now, I beginning to find three separate groups within the DCFD.

First group is those who have benefited from the current administration, these are the ones who have been promoted, granted special privileges, and basically belong to the new “fools click” that has formed. These are the one who seem to influence what gets posted here are not. Lately I overheard some pretty good stories, and some very bad rumors concerning those who post here and what will happen if they get caught.
I will state one policy of the watchdesk is that zero information will be given out on who post here, unless it concerns a search warrant issued by a legal government agency.
The second group belongs to those who the administration would like to get rid of, and even does a pretty good job of it. On a personal note I belong to this group, and because of the crap that was being done, I decided to do something else and retire. These people are often passed over, reassigned to the great administrative position or companies, or have other bullshit items come their way.
The third group basically does a balance act between the first two, the do not want to challenge the administration because of the repercussions of doing so, but also wish to benefit from being in the “In Click”. These are the guys who often bitch about things, but when it comes to action –zero.

Hook:

I cannot answer for Phantom, but he removed himself from the blog administration part of the website, so he cannot be “influenced”.

Now for my answer, since Chief Schultz , and Chief Rubin have not spoken to me in two years, and yes they both have past within 3 feet of me and not even said hello, I doubt that they are going to call me up on my I-phone and ask me a favor or two about postings. [they already know my position on that issue].

For the Chain Bridge post, I already gave you that answer, that post was removed by the originator. The reason was “it will not change a thing”. Again if you wish repost that issue, I will again tell you that I will not interfere unless I see it becoming a bashing of the 5th Batt. I served in this Batt for a couple of years, [not my first choice], but I did meet some very good firefighters that were trashed there for reasons beyond their control, or were appointed there and having a very hard time escaping. I always taken a position that the 5th Batt because of it diverse occupancy, construction, and problems [often water supply] that only people who have 15+ years be assigned there. Unlike other areas where OJT works, it been time tested that OJT always fail there. I can go on for pages with the mistakes this fire administration have made in this battalion from what officers assigned there to community support to PIO problems. Basically Rubin has been lying to these people since his appointment, he just gotten better at it, and now spread “Rumor Control” to the rest of the city.
The one item I have seen is the youth movement and friendship movement that Mayor Fenty administration has done. All Rubin and Schultz have done is to mirror what the mayor has done.
My last comment is the press always claimed how corrupt Mayor Barry was. Fenty I feel has surpassed Barry by a very long shot, at least Barry always took care of the unions.

For those who posted a few years ago, and no longer heard from, a lot have retired, some have converted. If you want a history lesson, find out those captains who filed the lawsuit against the city, look at the names, you see many of those who did post on the watchdesk, you will also see those converted, drank the cool-aid, and many of these even ask now what "flavor would you like now", others just found their career at an end and retired. Yes it is now amazing how far ass kissing will get you these days.

Regs1 I'm not familiar with your particular story as I've been out of touch down here for sometime now but I'm interested to hear it as I'm sure others are.

Regs1, Thanks for posting what you did. I do know you and have felt that you and another Capt that just recently passed away were always getting the royal shaft. And yes, other members were getting promoted over others. Only because they were drinking the KOOL AID!! I am probably in that second group. It was cheaper to retire me than to fix my injury's. But now cause of the politics of the city and the dept, I'm having other issues. Thats all I'm going to say cause I'll say something that will get me in trouble, Oh wait, I'm retired!!

Tinhat:

It's a very long and now meaningless story, lets just say I was one of two of the biggest captains that worked in the basement of Grimke, and gave you all those fine computers forms you now use.

If I am correct on who I think Regs1 is, I will say this. The man (that I am thinking of) may not have been good enough to be promoted to BFC but he sure as hell was asked to act, detailed for the good of the department to PSO, and quite a few other positions before he retired. Now I was only a recently appointed to Truck 17 on #1 at that time but I am pretty sure this was a "large" Captain in both stature and reputation.
