The Frostburg Fire Department in Frostburg, MD is in the process of purchasing a new rescue truck. One of the motors bid was a Cat C13. We are trying to find opinions of this motor related to performance and service. We are currently a Detroit Diesel department. Thanks.

stick with the detroits, best f%$#^ engine out there, CATs are great engines but to work on them is a different story try replacing a fan belt on one most the time you have to drop the fan hub WHAT A B^%$#!

I had to remove the fan and hub to replace a fan belt on a Spartan. So just because it is Detriot does not mean it is easy to work on. It depends on how the chassis manufacture put the motor in the chassis. After Jan 1 2010 you can only get detriot in a Pierce now you are going to have problem.
