Raw footage of the massive 3-Alarm fire that broke out in a building on Houston Street at Avenue A around 5:45pm today, July 8th 2010 which I came across as I was heading home from a session at LES Skatepark. The fire was on the roof of the building and potentially the upper floor. Footage contains clips of NYFD climbing fire escapes & cherry pickers, onlooking pedestrians and even victims of the fire smashing windows to escape. Thick, billowing plumes of smoke were visible from many blocks away which is what originally brought it to my attention. This building is thought to be residential with a ground floor business space. It is not known at this time what started the fire.
I've sent this footage to Fox 5, CBS, NBC, ABC News, APP, Aol, Yahoo, and is featured on CitizenTube.
