ROUND 1 :D

OK I am back...Thanks for Removing me as a member...so now I "MUST"...TELL IT ALL!!! I have buckets of truth that I will spill in this post. To the Special Interest, Hold on to your sheets! To the Kool Aid drinking losers (The Green Team):D don't drop your glass as you try to hide. To the Lemons and the aides that are leaving a very sour taste in the members mouths...Get your box, pack your stuff, and head for that pile of rocks and find a hiding place because "CHANGE IS COMING"~

FIRSTLY lets get this straight. You guys are opposed to Chief Ellerbe coming back? (If you sought the truth, you "wouldn't" be scared of the "Boogeyman" Stories you hear in the 3rd..LOL:eek:)

Here are a few facts that I've uncovered He was RECRUITED by the SECOND RICHEST COUNTY IN FLORIDA! Since he's been there he has managed to keep their budget in order and in fact, has been able to reduce their budget spending by $2M, which goes back to the fire department while maintaining an apparatus replacement schedule that keeps their front line trucks at five years or less, opened four new fire houses and INCREASED personnel.

I just saw a program where he led an awareness program that raised almost $50K in ONE DAY for cancer awareness and he had a symposium where he brought the US Fire Administrator to his city for his department..he got the U.S. Fire Administrator to attend his event along with Ed Plaugher, (Ex Fire Chief of Arlington and leader on 9/11 at the Pentagon) because they are friends of his.

He's well connected and has a positive relationship with the council. He knows our department and was the LAST manager to negotiate a FAIR contract for us. This is the guy you DON'T want?? I wonder why? Maybe he would be to honest and fair for the special interest.

We are facing massive budget threats that include possible furloughs, hiring freezes and maybe worse because of poor management and overspending and you don't want him back??

If he is as smart as they think he is in Florida, with his Masters degree he is probably laughing his butt off at us and thinking he DOESN'T WANT TO COME BACK TO THIS MESS!!

Let me see, a beachfront office, blue skies and great weather year round, golf courses (and I hear he's a pretty good golfer) a community that loves him and plenty of money to run his department IN EXCHANGE FOR,

 haters, people who lied about him personally and professionally, backstabbers, no money, a multi-million dollar deficit and an administration that has totally screwed this department up?? Duhhh, I don't think so. I don't think you closet kool aid drinkers have to worry about him coming back...we should be so lucky but I just can't think of why.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, spooky spooky spooky... are you scared yet???

Round 2 :D

Did any of you request a recall on DR? Don’t you know that there is “LEMON LAW” in this country for defective products? OK, OK, OK…let’s get on with it.

Now that it is clear that we are now rolled back to the early 1960’s in regards to race relations in our agency…It has to be “confronted” and rooted out. Prime example is: How come the current slates for the Local 36 Executive Board, are white on one side and black on the other?? So lets look at some of the people “pushed” forward to run.

President:

Ray Sneed (He gets my vote). Why? He was involved for years and learned the ropes from Tom Tippett (the greatest to some of you) and has provided a steady relationship with the current council, and backed “winners” in this current electoral cycle, despite all of the “closet” Green Teamers (sore losers). He fell on the previous president’s sword instead of “throwing him under the bus”. But I will. The previous president and his friendliness with DR and the kool-aid gang had us over a barrel with our butts in the air. How come Ray did not do anything? When you have a Mayor, and a Fire Chief who are anti labor, what are they going to change? NOTHING!

Second point: Let’s speak to the retired member issue. Ray was a Lt, when he retired; he “never” left the ranks of a member of Local 36. Well how is it that the Ed Smith for Local President Slate, has nominated retired “DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF” Ricky Moore as Treasurer for Local 36.:o

Last time I checked, Local 36 was for members “up to” the rank of Captain, and ranks above Captains belong to the “Chief Officers Union”, BFC Stern, President. I know there are some that will try to justify it, but that doesn’t make it “RIGHT”.

SO, if the fact that Moore is a DFC doesn’t bother you, how about the “fact” that Ricky Moore help negotiate that up your a$$ with NO grease contract, that “most” of you BLAMED ON RAY SNEED and voted it down!!! Now I know why some of you were pushing for it!!..Get your heads out of your butt and do your homework.

Ed Smith: Nice guy:), just recently started talking to “everybody”:(. Has done nothing to diffuse the rift between RS1 and E-2 on all shifts especially #2 and 3, he is the Captain at RS1, right?

Treasurer:

Sheldrake: retired and did not get to the BFC level so he has stayed within the Local. He helped negotiate the deal that turned the investors our way so we could buy the building that houses Local 36. He has negotiated leases that make the building turn a profit with minimal expense to the union.

Moore…RETIRED AS A DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF:eek:…enough said, sounds like a guy looking for a pay check! His failed negotiated contract lets you know how he really feels about us!!

ROUND 3 coming up soon so stay tuned!!

If you want the "Truth" about Ellerbe just look at what he did the last time he has just acting as Chief.....

Truth...you would not know the truth if it fell on you!

You are about as bright as the brick you are hiding under!

Please check your grammar before you show the world how smart you really are!

If you are really speaking the truth...do so in detail. I know its kind of hard to talk from under a rock, but give it a try....

I have been around long enough to know..that Ellerbe was a good guy for everybody, except the "Special Interest". When he transferred members who had been in positions for years!!! The Special Interest was upset, but "most" of the membership said "about time" somebody had the balls to do it.

Truth if that is what you are talking about...Get a life...That was over 10 years ago!!! I bet you still wear your sheets when you get home and out of the god awful "black city" huh??

You kill me, you do not complain when you get your paycheck! Few of you live in the city, and less than that were born here. Yet you complain. Go back to your hometown and dont look or come back.
Let see how that works for you.....

I bet you will hide under that brick...and whine for the rest of your career.

Your feelings must really be hurt that you cant hide under the table and scratch the balls, and catch the spilled kool-aid as it rolls off the side of the table anymore!!!

Question......
Why is it that when there is any kind of argument/debate over anything to do with the department's budget or direction somebody throws out the statement of "You don't live in the city"? I just don't get it? What difference does it make where you live in comparison to where you work? I don't know the history between Native_Son and Truth this is more of a general question. It just makes me laugh when some one throws that out in a discussion or debate. I really laugh when it comes from somebody who says it and there location is listed as Calvert???

I attended the contract ratification meetings. Both of them. The 'contract' was touted by two members of the BOE as 'the best deal we're going to get with this administration'. Those members were the President, and 1st VP.

This leads to two reasons I will never vote for either of them again:

1. They honestly believed it - giving up our current disciplinary process, for 0/1/0 just didn't sound like a fair deal to me. If they honestly believed that I would trade any amount of money in the world to give up a 'fair shake' during my trial board process, then they're so out of touch with the general membership that they need to step down. As the President of the local, he should have called it what it was - a turd sandwich, minus the bread.

2. They didn't agree with it, but just wanted to get 'the whole thing over with'. Giving up the things we stood to lose, just to end a lengthy process, is WEAK.

3. Ricky Moore is retired. I think having his expertise on the financial side of things, might help just as much as our current treasurer, just minus the yelling and screaming he's famous for.

4. Ed Smith has worked on many many projects for the local - to completion. He worked to lessen the blow we took to our health care, and is currently working on our disability retirement with certain council members - something which will take a legislative change via the City Council.

5. One of the nominees for the 1st VP spot, is the brother of the same Florida Fire Chief you've mentioned - whatever your opinions of either may be - it spells danger. We've seen what happens when members of our BOE are in Managements pockets, and it doesn't make for great working conditions, or morale.

These are just my opinions - YMMV.

Ricky Moore has been the treasurer before,so it would't be putting a newbie in there.

Ed Smith has worked on the issues that we the membership should be working on, IE the disability retirement and health issues.

Hookman,

Thats just my .02 cents worth. :)

As in the current 1st VP who not only was a classmate of a current AFC, they have lunch together on the regular.

So basically: Everyone currently working with someone, or ever worked with someone, or might have a relative that works with someone, is potentially a bad egg. Maybe we should just hire a union president from the corporate world to eliminate any potential of cronyism...

I can't even begin to quote/multi-quote on the level needed to respond to the last few posts, but I will sum it up:

1. I don't care who you eat lunch with on a regular basis, as ong as you don't sell me out during dessert.

2. I don't care where you work, used to work, or with whom you went to school, as long as you don't sell me out during recess.

3. If you aren't going to vote in the election in November, why bother discussing this thread any further?

4. If you don't know a candidate, or their issues, baggage, and past experience, why bash? Why not educate yourself on the issues at hand, and do some research on the candidates before opening mouth only to insert foot.

5. A fair amount of the retired men bring about clarity to the decision making process, through experience. In the case of Ricky Moore, he's been through some of these issues before - as a private, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and past board member, something about his degree from the College of Hard Knocks, makes paying him 60% of a base fireman's salary worth it to me as a current active member, to keep him active in the local - retired DFC or not.

a wiser older fireman once told me that "I can show you policy & procedure all day long, but if you don't know the difference between right and wrong, it don't mean shit". I tend to agree with him.

As a retired person, I have to put in a comment about a retired chief who wishes to be elected to local 36.
I really have to agree with the position that once you left the union, and became a chief officer; you really should not run for a position. You can make all the arguments about his past experience, what he has done, what he knows, and who he knows, but basically is still a bad idea.
Many of our past union leaders, who continued on in their career, and became a chief officers, but not one came back and ran for office. I am speaking about leaders such as Bill Mould, Tom Tippet, and even Dave Ryan and others, who basically made the union what it is today. Some of these people are still active in local 36, but not as an elected officials. There is a reason for this.
While I respect Ricky Moore, but he was a chief office and part of Rubins, and Thompson administration should not be elected at this time, perhaps things might change in the future, maybe he should run then, but not now.
Make no mistake about the near future, because of Rubin and even Thompson administration. The Fire department budget will be for crap. Some very hard decisions will have to be made; friendships, relationships, past classmates, who I sucked up to, who sucked up to me, cannot come into play.
Chief Moore was part of the administration when these items did come into consideration and look where it has gotten us today

regs - Make no mistake about it, Tom Tippet is still very active within L36. He may not be drawing a salaried position, but he's still actively campaigning and making phone calls for Ray... at least as of yesterday.

I not sure where you coming from, but you know you just made my point. I know a lot of past chief officers who are very active in the local, but not one has ran or considering running for office.
