This should lighten the rumor load for some, as I mentioned this before and with the rumors of layoffs and furloughs etc.....Though no one wants to lose their job or suffer the loss of income, as a result of ways to reduce the city's debt, this should be a relief to firefighters and police who've seen this happen way to much across America.

If the city really want to save money, the first thing the Fire Chief should do is remove the overtime distribution list from the king twin brothers ( you guys know who I'm speaking of. The DFC's pet has been getting away with this for years and his brother is no different. Have the OIG look into that case and I'm sure the city will have a return.

"Essential personnel are exempt". Any day work spots do not fall under "essential".

That's always confused me. How is it that just because you are on day work you are not "essential"? Go a week without those people and see how much gets done. I bet we don't get paid if payroll doesn't show up! Or is it that only civilians are non-essential, and the uniformed personnel on day work still have to come in? Nope, the uniformed academy staff stays home too! And we can't really say only uniformed have to come in, because we still have civilian staff in field provider roles. Makes your head swim.

During our "orgy of overtime" last winter, people soft needed to have a new category added for us on the CSU that worked the days the DC government was closed. It was overtime, almost like holiday worked. We were day work and thus deemed "non-essential"

It's been done, and I don't believe that there was any wrong doing discovered. Stabbing your brothers in the back ain't going to help, find something or someone else to bitch about!!!

Amen Bucky. I'm one of the "inks not yet dry guys" but I know how to not throw the fellas under the bus to further any cause. And what happens in the house/battalion stays in the house/battalion. The guy you shit on today might be you're boss tomorrow, oh, wait.........
