I'm selling my 1961 International/General Safety Engine. It's a Model 190 cab over design, with recessed ladder racks and hard suction hoses into the body. She was built for Durand WI, then donated to the Federal Goverment to be sent to a third world nation as part of a rebuilding program for said nation. However, the Engine was not exported and was auctioned off sometime in the mid 90's. It was purchased by a friend of mine and set off in a field at another persons house. My friend has a rather large collection and never set about working on this piece. He decided to sell it in early 2002, that's when I stepped in. It has a real unique look to it due to the recessed storage areas on the body. (Durand had it built like this to keep ice and snow off the ladders and hard suction when the piece was outside) I had planned on cutting my teeth on rebuilding the piece, but due to increasing ops tempo with the USAF I haven't had a chance to work on her. I'd rather get rid of her now so someone can do something with her, than it just rusting away in the field.
She has a HUGE 549 gas powered V-8 as her powerplant, it was running, but would stall out on occasions. I did drive her a time or two and everything appears to be working. All lights are operational (both driving and warning)She does not have a radio or siren. I didn't go work on her at all last summer, so nothing is garunteed.
Like I said, I'm getting rid of her to save her, so I'll let her go real cheap. Make me an offer. Also, I'd rather sell her to a TWD person, but if she doesn't sell here I'll have to go to e-bay. If you're interested please PM me. I'll attempt to get some photos of her and post within the week.
