DOVER- A Dover fire company is taking on a major renovation.
The Robbins Hose Fire Company- Station 46,on 103 S. Governors Ave., is set to start a $2.5 million renovation project in March. Fire officials say they are running out of space and new equipment does not fit in the garages they have now.
"We're going to be demolishing this entire area of the fire station," said Dover Fire Chief Brian Bashita. "With that we'll build a first and second floor which is large enough to park the equipment we currently have today."
The new second floor will house offices, a training room and separate facilities for men and women. Bashita said the project will be funded without any money from the city of Dover. He said it will come from state and county money and donations.
The Robbins Hose Company has 75 members and 100 responding members and is manned by volunteer firefighters.
