UNC Charlotte Extended Academic Programs is excited to announce that registration for the 2011-2012 Fire & Rescue Management Institute is now open and available online at http://ContinuingEd.uncc.edu/fire. Since 2006-2007, the Institute has graduated over 200 fire service administrators from North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Highlights for the 2011-2012 Fire & Rescue Management Institute include:
•Classes will take place in the brand new UNC Charlotte Center City location, a $50M state-of-the art facility!
•Participants staying overnight will receive a fantastic rate of $70/night at the Hampton Inn-Uptown Charlotte with free hotel parking, complimentary breakfast, and complimentary reserved shuttle to and from class. The hotel is located directly across the street from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Buffalo Wild Wings and is within walking distance to Time Warner Cable Arena and the Uptown EpiCentre of restaurants and nightlife.
•Keynote address this year is “Pride and Ownership” presented by Chief Rick Lasky on October 5, 2011 from 8:00am-4:30pm. Alumni are invited to attend the keynote address free of charge as seats are available; simply RSVP by emailing Program Director Karri Murray at kkmurray@uncc.edu.
•A high ropes team challenge course will take place on Day 2 of the Institute in collaboration with UNC Charlotte’s own Venture department.
•Our four traditional modules will continue-- Leadership and Team-Building, Management Skills and Strategic Planning, Communication Skills, and Personnel Management. An official list of course topics and instructors will be available mid-summer.
•North Carolina personnel will earn credits toward North Carolina Fire Officer III certification (annual review of curriculum by OSFM required for renewal of credit offering). All participants earn 7.5 continuing education units (CEU) in addition to the official framed Fire & Rescue Management Institute certificate.

Module 2: November 2-4
Module 3: January 4-6
Module 4: January 31-February 3
