Fire Chief – City of Trotwood

Position Description: The City of Trotwood(pop.28,000) is seeking to hire a Chief to lead the Fire & Rescue Department. The Department with an authorized strength of 25 full-time and 90 part-time firefighters/paramedics, protects approximately 28 square miles. The depatrment currently operates out of three stations snd has an annual operating budget of $4.7 million. The community recently approved funding for the construction of 2 new fire stations.
The Fire Chief reports to the City Manager and has immediate and overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, supervising and implementing fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services in order to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property.
The position requires 10 years of fire service experience including at least 5 years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience.
A bachelor's degree with major course work in fire science or closely related field. A master's degree is preferred along with advanced management education and training such as the National Fire Academy. Completion of Level II Firefighters Basic Training and EMT-First Responder Certification as required by Ohio State Law within one year of employment. Effective public relations, oral and written communications skills. Budgeting, supervisory and strategic planning skills required.
Salary range: $56,825-$73,257
