Occasionally I'll throw on the dispatch from Dover's web site, but I don't know who anybody is. Anybody have the fire and EMS station #'s so I know who's going where??? Frequencies and ground explanations would be a help as well.

Many thanks!!! Any help with the 10 codes? Not the same as the ones we use in Pa.

How busy is Dover? I've only heard them go on a box twice. I don't listen 24-7 so maybe I just have perfect timing and miss them all the time.

The main ones are:
10-1 Under control
10-2 On scene
10-3 Proceed with message
10-4 OK
10-7 Back in quarters
10-8 Responding
10-9 Repeat message
10-10 MVC, MVA
10-11 Second emergency
10-12 Cover up assignment
10-17 Food or drink to the scene
10-19 Returning to quarters
10-20 Location
10-44 Request for ambulance

Dover responds to about 1000 calls per year. They do not respond to EMS calls. They only respond to accidents that involve rescue or fire.
They have 2 stations
Station 1
Engine 4 (Sqrt)
Engine 6
Engine 7
Rescue 1
Ladder 1 (Tiller)

Station 2
Engine 3
Engine 5
Ladder 2 (Rearmount tower)

Officers
15-Chief
16-Deputy
17-1st Assistant Chief
18-2nd Assistant Chief
19-Third Assistant Chief
20-Fourth Assistant Chief
21-Captain
22-Captain
The officers are elected at large so there are no specific station officers.

They dispatch one station or the other for minor calls (called crew calls) based on the location in the district. They dispatch both stations for structure fires and accidents. Most of their district is within city limits but they do have some rural area to the west. On the majority of their alarms, they respond alone. They used to have several boxes that required mutual aid on the initial dispatch, but they have scaled most of those back. In the rural area to the west, Hartly (51) is due with a tanker.

Thanks again, guess I'm just missing their calls. That can happen when only listening for a few hours a night after work I guess. LOL Are all 3 counties on a state-wide 800 system now? A month today I'll be hitting OCMD and if I remember I'll pack away the scanner in the luggage to haul down and listen when time permits.

Yes, the whole state is on 800 mhz. It has been around 5 years now, I think. Each county has its own fire & EMS templates to use as well as a statewide template for large incidents. If you are in OC, you may be able to pick up some of Sussex on a scanner if you can find a fire company repeater frequency that rebroadcasts the 800. There are a few very expensive scanners that pick up 800 directly.
