Baltimore, MD-based fire apparatus photographer here, with limited knowledge of DC (mostly the Northwest quadrant)... Can someone please advise where I might find the new ALF HazMat unit and the new (Pierce?) Command Unit? Other than engines/ladders (direct supression), these are the nicest/newest rigs in the District, correct? Thanks!

The new Pierce command unit is located at Engine 2, 6th and F St., N.W.
The new Hazmat Unit has not yet been built. It will most likely be a Pierce, though. I believe that the ALF that you are refering to is the reserve rescue that was purchased as is from Beaverbuilt several years ago. It just so happens that is currently being utilized by Rescue 1, which is also located at 6th and F St. N.W. Our most recent deliveries have been the ALF/LTI tiller trucks which were re-habbed/re-tractored '93 units. They are located at Truck 8 (1st St. and Atlantic St., S.E) and at Truck 12, which is temporarilly being housed at the quarters of Engine 31 on Connecticut Ave., N.W. (I forget the cross street!!??)

Thanks.. but I think I remember seeing a photo of a DC HazMat (large) rig, with "Edgewood" above the windows.. didn't see a full body shot but the nose looked like a new ALF... am I mistaken?

FirePix1075: The rig you saw at "Edgewood" was in fact the ALF/Beaverbilt 'reserve rescue' that Judge Smales indicated. The reason for the confusion may be that it was originally purchased to replace RS3. Following the delivery of the new E-One rescues, the ALF then replaced the aging E-One Cyclone Hazmat Unit, while the former RS1 vehicle was undergoing rehab to become the current Hazmat-1. When the rehabbed RS1 was placed in service as H1, the ALF then went to Special Ops, to use as needed.
Whew!

OK, thanks to all.
It'll take me a bit to digest all this and figure out which rig is where....:)
