You may get a better response if you move/restart this thread over to/on the General FD Discussions or Research, Education, and Investigation Forum(s).
Most people come to this forum (General Forum Issues) for “Issues related to the forum, how it works, requests for help and FAQs” and to “List problems with the forum, questions about the forum here”.

SPAAMFAA (Society for the Preservation And Appreciation of Antique Motor fire Apparatus in America) has an excellant quarterly magazine that is devoted to antique and vintage apparatus, Enjine! ~ Enjine!
In each issue you will find these columns:
“The Tool Box” by Alex Black. Using a question and answer format, Alex provides information regarding mechanical and restoration concerns that are raised by our members. Questions posed in the last few issues asked about use of modern spark plugs in antique apparatus; tire safety; carburetors overflowing gasoline; how to pressure test fire hose; brake problems; and coverings for running boards. Members can write and ask about solving the type of problems and challenges that are encountered in restoring and maintaining vintage and antique apparatus.
“On The Bookshelf” by Tom Scott. Tom has a vast library of fire related books and publications relating to virtually every facet of fire service literature. He writes informative reviews of new publications that are of interest to apparatus owners and admirers. Recently reviewed books included Wheels Rolling - A Pictorial History of Cleveland Fire Apparatus; The F.D.N.Y. Super Pumper System; 80 Years of Fire & Rescue Apparatus in Fairfax County, Virginia 1923-2003; and Hahn Fire Apparatus 1923-1990 Photo Archive.
“SPAAMFAA Archives” by Ed Peterson. SPAAMFAA maintains a photo and literature archive in cooperation with the Antique Automobile Club of America at their headquarters in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Ed keeps the membership aware of recent additions to the collection along with happenings that may effect the archives.
