Possible RIF????

Has anyone heard of a RIF in the new fiscal year? The Admiral over the Southeast Region was going to do a RIF by 30 SEPT 04, but it was stopped, and now we heard one might start in the new fiscal year. Our dept was looking at losing 8-10 firefighters, and other bases were looking at a harder hit. I've also heard this is to help pay for the cost of the war, and that the southeast region is a "test" to see if "they" could downsize DOD wide. I'm just trying to see what other bases are hearing. Any news would help.

For now it just seems to be a Navy "thing." We are not hearing of anything in the Army, but I have talked to a few buddies at Southeast Navy bases and it does not look good for them. Same old same old, "NO MONEY." :mad:
