Possible RIF????

Has anyone heard of a RIF in the new fiscal year? The Admiral over the Southeast Region was going to do a RIF by 30 SEPT 04, but it was stopped, and now we heard one might start in the new fiscal year. Our dept was looking at losing 8-10 firefighters, and other bases were looking at a harder hit. I've also heard this is to help pay for the cost of the war, and that the southeast region is a "test" to see if "they" could downsize DOD wide. I'm just trying to see what other bases are hearing. Any news would help.

No news of any R.I.F. here on the Mountain. We don't fall under the southeast region, or DOD, so I don't think the Admiral will get us... Anyhow after looking at the date on the original post, I am not sure why this issue was brought back up. Three years is a long time ago. I am sure that there are more current issues.
