DC Fire Marshals/ Investigators Office

I'm looking for some information regarding the DC Fire Marshals Office. Right now I'm going to college majoring in criminal justice. I'm looking to do an internship with a fire marshal regarding arson and fire investigation.

How big is the fire marshals office?
Good group of guys down there?
Do they have any type of internship program that anyone knows of?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You need to check with someone who knows more than me, but the routine fires that are not suspicious are handled by the DCFD FM's, but arson fires are investigated by the DC Police arson squad........the FM's used to run out of grounds of ST Elizabeth's Hosp.......I think

The fire marshals office handles ALL fire investigations. Arson investigators have law enforcement powers and carry fire arms. They also work along side MPD detectives and Federal ATF agents who are al a part of the ArsonTask Force. In addition, ATF trainees often work along side DC arson investigators in order to gain experience. If you want more information, you might consider contacting Battalion Chief Palmer at Gary.Palmer @dc.gov. He heads up the Fire Investigations Unit.
