Has anyone heard anything about his or her PD's? If you've gotten the upgrade, could you post here when it became effective, and what branch / base you work for.

We haven't heard (or seen) anything here except rumors. Chief is kinda tight lipped about it and our AFGE is about useless.

The upgrade pretty much depends on your current job requirements. If you are not DOING EMS and HazMat don't expect an upgrade. Also, it may not be realistic to expect everyone to be upgraded. Upper management would tend to want to minimize the financial impact. We are just starting to look at financial impact, but as of yet I have received no other info or directives from upper management. OPM will require implementation "in a reasonable time frame" generally held to be no more than one year. We have a classification appeal in the works in case the time frame stretches out. It looks like overall senior management at alot of facilities are going to want to drag their feet on this. At present I am only aware of a few DOD agencies who have implemented the upgrades. As far as AFGE, in my book they are the SORRIEST union on the face of the earth. They do NOTHING for firefighters, despite what they claim in their "propaganda". I know that Fort McPherson and Ft. Gillem (1 Dept.) in Atlanta did their upgrade in June all Paramedics went to 9's and F/F Emt's with Haz-mat went to 7's and Emt-I's went to 8's. Ft.Lee in Petersburg Va. is doing there upgrade in Sept. Paramedic and I's will be 8's and FF-HazMat Techs will be 7's The Upgrades are also at the decresion of the Base Commander due to money.
