An LAFD rookie firefighte dies on 8/14/04. the unit was leaving the scene of a fire and the rookie was on the back step while the unit was backing up, she fell of and got ran over by the unit. she was transported to hospital and later died as a result of her injuries.
I would have thought that we past these senseless deaths in the FD. Unacceptable in 2004 to have a LODD from falling off apparatus.

Wasnt there another Female FF that did something similar quite some time again (I believe while helping back her unit in) that she was run over also. Possibly over or close to 10 years again? I also believe she lived for quite sometime after the accident too.

Sandy didn't get hurt backing up the truck, she fell off as it left the house on a run. I have heard assorted speculation on how that occurred, but it's irrelevant to the point, and not nice to speak negatively about someone who has been gravely injured. She had most of her gut ripped out and damage to other organs. She was caught at a point where the wheel was tearing at her abdomen but not running over her. The location was Prince George's County Station 22, Tuxedo-Cheverly. She lectured on safety for quite some time after the accident, but I'm not sure what happened to her after that.
