Natural gas house explosion shortly before X-mas last year. This was a split entry. The family dog was inside when it happened and survived. He was seen in the home video minutes after the explosion running around the front yard while what was left of the house was fully involved.

Building sat about 25 feet from the local fire department. I could see this fire from my house. I actually had my application in at the fire department when this came in. I was awaken by the crackling. I feared my house or garage was on fire - that's how loud it was.

Also came in shortly before X-mas about 3 years ago. This was rumored to be started by a toy train malfunction, in the basement gameroom (now through the roof).

Hey gary, have any pics of 161-2 after the train?
The picture of the firefighter being removed from a window by lifesaving rope..that wouldn't happen to be the engine officer that L.6 rescued some years back, as the FAST truck? If so, I believe this was the first deployment and rescue of a firefighter by a FAST company since the conception of the FAST truck assignment, correct?

Being a smaller county wedged between 5 other jurisdictions, we had help from everyone. In all I believe Anne Arundle County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, BWI, Carroll County, Fort Meade, Frederick County, Montgomery County, and Prince Georges County had units either operating on the scene or transfered to cover stations. It was a 36 hour operation in all.
Remember, once Howard County gets past a 2nd alarm, all our resources have been used.

There are a number of multi-alarm fires posted there including the Chipsco Fire which is our regions largest single fire loss at $50,000,000!!!
It was a huge manufacturer that had about 50 specialized machines that were lost in the fire.
