This past weekend for a lot of us at the Richmond International Raceway in Richmond VA was a lot of fun. During the long periods of waiting a few of us got together and came up with the "crazy" idea about the volunteers of Virginia and/or the US, sponsering a car in either the Craftsman truck series, the Busch Race or if there is enough interest maybe even the Nextel Series.

I don't know why we thought of this. But we would like everyones opinion in it and see if there is any interest in it as well.

It sounds like a great idea. First thing you need to find out is how much it will cost to sponsor. I would guess as a sponsor you would have to come up with some large amount of money. Then every year come up with more money. Don't think it would be easy.

Nascar is one of the fastest growing sports in the US. Having a car like that would be awesome publicity and just awesome in general.

All of the branches of the military have cars, why not firefighters?

Interesting point. I wonder who is paying to sponsor those cars. Certainly the military is not forking out millions of dollars for there name to be on a race car.

Why not? Sounds like a good idea to me! Money shouldn't be that big of an issue either. The military uses their racing teams to promote recruiting into all of the branches. Why can't the IAFF or other local fire/rescue organizations do the same? Worth looking into!

That's what I was thinking when we were coming up with the idea. It would be a great way to promote fire and rescue and maybe get some more volunteers out of it.

Everything needs a little advertising. People know it's out there but some just need a little push in some ways. I love fire fighting and running rescue. It's really changed my life in the way I live and take care of myself. I take pride in what I do.
