I'm a Baltimore, MD apparatus photographer who will be "in town" for Saturday's Fire Expo @ the Wilmington Riverfront. Are there any new (last year or so) fire apparatus (supression/rescue) pieces @ volunteer companies in the area that are worth shooting?
Any advice/suggestions on stations to "hit" in the afternoon would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There have been some new units placed in service over the past year. Whether or not they will be on display at the event I can't say.
Of interest, Wilmington Manor FC has placed in service a pair of Pierce engines (E28-5 & E32-5) and a new ambulance (A-28). Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Co. (Newark) has placed in service a Pierce engine (E7-4) as well.
Christiana FC will be taking delivery of a new Seagrave 100ft rear mount heavy-duty ladder truck this fall, perhaps in November. This will be replacing the current Ladder 12, a 1984 American-LaFrance 100ft rear mount.
Delaware City FC (Station 15) has built a new station, located on Rt72 / Rt9 as you enter into town after passing by the refinery complex.
Hope this helps.

Appreciate the info. I don't assume the new rigs would be on display @ the Expo.. I'm thinking of visiting some volly stations in the afternoon.
I can't seem to find info. on the web about Wilmington Manor (website, station address, email contact, etc.) Are the Wilmington Manor & Aetna Station 7 fairly near the Riverfront Wilmington?

Both of WMFC stations are located on Rt 13 (DuPony Hwy). Station 28 is on the southbound side of Rt 13, just north of Rt 141 (Basin Rd). Station 32 is also on the southbound side of Rt 13 at the Rt 13 / Rt 40 split, about 1-1/2 miles south of the NCC Airport.
From the Riverfront complex... I-95 south to Rt 141 south (New Castle exit).
Station 28 - Take Rt 141 to Rt 13 north. Once on Rt 13, you'll have to get all the way over to make the U-turn at the cross walk. You'll see Station 28.
Station 32 - Leave 28, going south on Rt 13. Go past the NCC Airport. You'll start seeing signs for right lanes to turn into Rt 40 (Pulaski Hwy / Elkton), stay all the way over to the right. Station 32 is just past the Ford dealership, Duncan Doughnuts, and motel.
AHHL (Newark Station 7) located on Thorn Lane, just off of Elkton Rd. From I-95 take the Elkton Rd exit (just south of the DE / MD stateline) and travel north, towards Newark. The station visible from Elkton Rd, just north of Cashew Mill Rd. Visit their website for more... www.aetnahhl.org.
You may also want to visit www.delawarefirefighter.com for more infomation about NCC companies.

Appreciate the info.
It also appears (??) that there are several stations within a 10-15-20 minute drive of the Riverfront/downtown area that might be worth me hitting, incl.
Cranston Heights St. 14 (EOne Engine & Rescue/Squad)
Mill Creek (great looking green rigs)
Five Points (nice old tiller)
Hockessin (nice looking apparatus on website)
Holloway Terrace (1962 Mack?)
Any words of wisdom?

Your best bet will be to see who has what on display there at the Riverfront. Most of the companies you listed will most likely be in attendence.
You may also get better directions to these stations from there.
Also...
ADC makes a paperback map book for New Castle County. It is probally your best bet for directions to all of the FD's in the county. This book should be available at most Wawa's, or other type of stores.

Good to know.. I will definitely pick up an ADC map on my way to the Amtrak station to pick someone up b4 the Expo..
One last Q..
Where in relation to the Riverfront is the Brandywine Hundred FD? Looks like they have a bunch of nice looking Mack pieces.
Thanks.

BHFC is located just north of the City of Wilmington, in the town of Bellefonte. Easy access from either I-95 or I-495. Your best bet is to view the ADC book for directions. About a 10 to 15 minute drive from the Riverfront complex.
Their fleet is now down to 2 Macks. An older model MC style and a CF style, one of the last to come off the assembly line before Mack closed down. The rest are a Spartan chasis Engine and Aerialscope; a Simon-Duplex / Salisbury rescue pumper. Also a SWWEEEET antique!!

Stoned Dragon: Can you give direction to the muster site? I'll be coming north from the Baltimore area.

Directions from Maryland:
Take I-95 North to Exit 6 in Wilmington, Delaware (Maryland Avenue) and turn right onto Maryland Avenue. Follow the signs to the Riverfront, turning right just before the 1st traffic light. Turn right onto South Madison Street.
Where in Maryland are you? I'm coming from Baltimore County, and will be hitting a few New Castle County houses in the afternoon for photos.
