I am so sick and tired of people like Medic5 saying things that are untrue......look here medic5 you can get into alot of shit over it...i know you don`t care because you will lie and say you never said it.....that is the biggest reason i will never respect anything you say or do
another thing is that you hide behind the computer screen....if you are going to post untrue things why not have the balls to post your name?........

Just an FYI...revealing one's real name is not, and has never been, required in order to post on TWD. That's why we adopt screen names.
Challenging someone to "have the balls" to state his name is just a desperation tactic on the part of someone who cannot legitimately address what an opponent has to say. It is intended to deflect attention away from the issue at hand and discourage the target of the challenge from posting.
Besides, what does it matter? If asked, I could tell you that my name is Harvey Schmiddlapp, or Joe Smith, or Clark Kent, or Elvis Presley, or R2D2...what difference would it make, and how would you know if it's true?
When someone resorts to that "I challenge you to state your name..." bullshit, I trust we all see it for what it is.

I think that it is universally agreed that VS's screen name is designed to provoke a response, but his arguments are logical, his opinions are based on personal observation, and his demeanor is reflective of how he is addressed.
I have yet to see him fail to give credit where due, volunteer or otherwise, and he is unfailingly polite and respectful when given the opportunity to debate intelligently.
I can only suggest that you might want to ride in a fire service oriented area in an urban environment, (and even get paid for it) before you muster the stones to criticize what this man has made his life's work. I would wager your outlook might be a little different than the rosy altruism you have fooled yourself with.
Say what you will about VS, but mind how you call him a "coward."

VS I have basically given up on the issue, however I don't like it when people called other people cowards. I have the chance to experience the vollie and pay life. Both have loads in their respective areas and both have great firefighters too. Yes, he's gotten into a few verbal scrums, usually with people who immediately launch degrading personal attacks instead of intelligent debate.
VS has also stated that he began his fire service as a volunteer. In fact, a large number of "paid folks" have, including myself.
So you disagree. You're entitled. Understand though that VS and many other career people have seen this particular argument from both sides. You are only looking at it from one.

But yes, I have been busy lately. The cooler weather is ushering in what appears to be an early and busy fire season here in B'more. My turn-outs are hanging up to dry out right now from a hot and smoky 3 story job last night.
Don't confuse this one asshole with all other volunteers. He is a very poor example and people like him are the reason people like VolliesSuck feel they way they do.No chance of mistaking this dude (hog) for anything other than what he presents himself as.
No system is perfect, paid or volunteer, and although I definitely see what VS is talking about, (and I'm not nearly as active a volunteer as I was when I started,) I still remember where I came from.
As far individuals go, you've got your yokels, twits, wanna-be's and loud mouths everywhere you go. I believe in letting your performance speak for your abilities, not your mouth. If someone has to tell me how good they are, they're not.

That is not a god given right, but an earned right that each person must archive, you apparently belong to a large class of people who believe just because they have some title, they must have respect of all those around. The same goes for organization [volunteer fire depts?]. I will first break it down real simple, I use one of my anti volunteer fire department points, why do some volunteer departments now depend upon those members who are younger than 18 years old? First, under the law they cannot sign a legal document, second cannot be held liable [except under certain circumstances] for their actions. I know when I was 16yrs old, hanging out at the firehouse on Fri or Sat. night was the last thing on my mind, but today many departments depend on them, and if/when they get in trouble defend their use – why? If it just a manpower issue, then these departments have a recruiting problem, and just not reaching the local 18+ age community. Maybe how they run their volunteer department is wrong, and need correction, perhaps if they cannot recruit members, then the volunteer department time is now ended and should become a paid system where the same community now must support that system through a tax levy, or if to remain a volunteer system combine with nearby other volunteer departments?
This is a far cry from bashing, but real problems facing VFD’s, as I said before, can you answer up, or just call names and run away?

I have no beef with you (other than you supporting Bush, but that's another story). :rolleyes: As I already stated, and you responded to it, I mistake you for nothing other than what you present yourself as.
That said, let's discuss your presentation. Whatever cause you are trying to gain sympathy or support for is totally lost in your delivery. You come across as abrasive, over-reactive, and easily provoked. To add to that, your style of prose is, shall we say, disjointed? At times incomprehensible? You would be wise to think more on your answers before responding, and articulate your arguments better.
You can have an opinion on anything you want, but as it stands you have alienated just about everyone on here by how you formulate (if I can even apply that word) your posts.
When you come out with both barrels a' blazing, you can't expect that you won't get fired back upon.
i have no problem with someone "firing back at me" i am just tired of folks who have no clue about who i am or what my opinions are calling names etc.....i just wonder where everyone that gets on me is at when the bashing starts.......not that the name calling bothers me just that some of the folks on here who get on me don`t back me either.....like a witch hunt ....i think that everyone before going off should try and at least listen to everyone`s thoughts and opinions before judging..........oh yes Bush in 04.....kerry has no right leading our military after he met with the VC in France during The Vietnam War......

I gave you the chance to have a: “clue about who i am or what my opinions are”, you just did not take it, how can anyone back you when everyone just really do not know you are and where you stand. I know where Vollies suck stand is, and even through I have clashed with medic 5, we know each other opinion is, Hog you have failed on this point, you took on both the exact wrong way, debate both, take on an issue. I gave you a very simple one about age 16 members that a lot of volunteer departments use as firefighters, this item has real issues and problems, but you failed to pick up on it, instead you "whine" about everyone picking on you.
STOP the whining, start over, use spell check, take on an issue you feel is important. If you really feel that Vollie suck or medic5 is wrong, state so, don’t e-mail them, state you position, you might be surprise at the real results, might even learn something new. :)

1- Why would I visit you, going to visit people in mental hospitals on a Sunday afternoon is not my thing. You have nothing to say to me thats worth the trip. In reviewing your posts, I suspect that you not even a volunteer firefighter, but that mentally challenged person who just hangs around to do menial jobs. You more or less type one liners, and you even get them wrong most of the time.
2- I have not judge you at all, I feel that you have a communication problem, but that outlook is changing fast, you seem to know nothing about the fire service,
3- downgrading? :confused: You need no help from the other writers on this thread, you do a great job all by yourself.

Hopewell, Hell has just frozen over, for I find that I must agree with something Hog has alleged. John Kerry did indeed meet with the North Vietnamese communists in 1970 in Paris. You can read all about it by going to Google and typing "kerry meeting with north vietnamese" in the search bar. I did that and came up with over 78,000 references to it in less than a second.
