At one time Balitmore had a TV show that was filmed in Baltimore "Homicide:Life On The Street" a cable production now being done there "Wired" both police dramas.
Then acourse there have been movies done there too including "Ladder 49"
So would it be a plus for Baltimore and the State of Maryland to do a TV show based on "Ladder 49"? Have some of the actors from the movie and new actors take up where the movie ended, later have new apparatus placed into service and a new station house maybe with additional units assigned to the station. Keep the behind the firehouse story thing going, what happens when the guys get off work. More sights of Baltimore or around Maryland like ocean fishing off Ocean City, MD.
Its just a thought of mine. Too many police stories and not enough fire and EMS stories.

i think you have a good idea. too bad the Mayor will probily try to shoot it down. that man hates the firedepartment. But there has not been a good T.V. show about the fire service for a long time ( emergency) was the best that show and my family in the fire service were my bigest influence to becoming a firefighter. both volunteer and paid. i hope some one on here takes your idea and runs with it. :)

I would guess everyone has noticed that "Third Watch" has gone from a Police/EMS/Fire story to more police with a little EMS to just a speck of fire.
Then you have "Rescue Me" with a mix of things happening in the lives of the crew of Ladder 62 with a fire or two in the show.
One thing I have wondered is what are the work hours of FDNY personnel? When you see them they walk in the station and later at home or somewhere else.
Most work hours I have known are 24 on and 3 days off where it use to be 12 on for 2 days either day or night, 4 days off and switch day or night with 4 platoons.
In Ladder 49 it sounded like a 12 on day in the movie.
I would like to see another fire dept TV show, even Ladder 49 or the TV show Randy Mantooth has been trying to sell to the networks, USAR LA County.

i'm all for another good firefighting show, rescue me and third watch just don't seem to cut it. rescue me has too much bs, would love too see another show like emergency. heck i would even settle for reruns of the show. i know tv land had it on for a little while about a year or so ago.

Good thought on that guys, the only problem is this: How many calls do you all run in an average shift? It might be different for me, I run in a county outside of Richmond, VA. Fire/EMS can get really boring. You would have to tape numerous fire houses and EMS stations and splice everything together in order to really keep anyone interested. That is why they had rescue 911, emergency, paramedics, etc. You wouldn't be able to really have that much of a story line. just a little thought...
