I actually agree with hog on something, I only want the league back though if its working right. If it takes a season are more to fix the economic issues so be it.

I used to be a die-hard Washington Capitals fan. Got tired of seeing my hopes crushed every year.

To be honest I could care less anymore. Your favorite players and coaches change teams, your favorite teams change cities, and everyone's making money but you. Hell, I can't afford to see a professional sporting contest but once or twice a year anyway. Pick 'em, football, baseball, basketball, hockey... I'm tired of being a cash cow to an entity that dissappoints you every time, from every angle.

The Boston Red Sox, beating the hated arch-rival Yankees, coming from 3 games down, and then winning the World Series? First time I've given a crap about any sport since the Ravens won the Superbowl the year they weren't supposed to.

Pretty good there Hopewell. I consider myself a die-hard Capitals fan, regardless of who is playing, coaching, or whatever. And I hope that they at least start the season up. I enjoy sitting down somewhere and watching the game, usually at home 'cause ain't no one around here where I'm at that likes to watch hockey that much (at least in the bars and such). Anyways, you are right about the ticket prices. Heck, I have a better time going up to see the Hershey Bears or the Johnstown Chiefs play. At least the ticket prices aren't as much as the Caps games (or even those dern Penguins games too).

Although I am a DIE HARD PENS FAN, I am sick and tired of the players unions in all sports, ESPECIALLY hockey. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement has seen the League as a whole lose more than $500 million over the past two seasons, and in excess of $1.7 billion over 10 seasons.

You tell me what the players want? The owners and the management offered to the players in excess of 50% of League revenues, and would maintain an average annual player salary in excess of $1.3 million. What did the players union say? NO!

My opinion for ALL professional sports teams: When you are drafted, you are given a contract worth $100,000 a year. The rest of the money you make in that season will be based on performance, games played etc. Why do I like Nascar? Because they do not rip me off! My hotel, 4 days of racing (Sprint, Qualifying, Busch, Nextel Cup) cost me less than $200.00 AND you take your own cooler into the track! Beer alone saved me probably $200 dollars over that tim frame!

Pretty good there Hopewell. I consider myself a die-hard Capitals fan, regardless of who is playing, coaching, or whatever. And I hope that they at least start the season up. Remember the good old days of the red, white, and blue Caps, with Rod Langway and Scott Stevens on the blue line and guys like K!!!! Miller, Mike Ridley, and Gaetan Duchesne doing the forechecking? Anhhh, I loved 'em, but in the name of all that's holy, they just never could score when they needed to. :(

At least the ticket prices aren't as much as the Caps games (or even those dern Penguins games too).I know what you mean. I was living in Roch. NY back in high school, and nobody (I mean NOBODY) could have given a crap about the Caps other than me. If I could even find a hockey game on anywhere, it was the damn Buffalo Sabres back when they were AWFUL to watch. I did get into the AHL a little bit while I was there though, and the Amerks (Rochester Americans) weren't too bad to watch. The games were certainly more affordable!

P.S. I don't know why, and I've tried to fix it 3 times now, but it won't let me spell out K!!!! Miller's name. It just fills in exclamation points!

very good point johnny....it is a shame that all sports personallities who make so much money that they will never spend strike at our expense

I think that it is crap that any professional sport should strike. I mean come on, they did it for free in college and every level before then, why is it now that they make money that they feel the need to get all greedy? It hurt baseball back in the mid 90's and if I didn't know any better, they are just now getting back to where they were before then. It will take quite a while for hockey to get the fan base back, and it is a crying shame that it does cost so much money to attend a professional sporting event.

I am a hockey fan, but comeon, the season is over. Even if you started the season now it wouldnt be the same. Scrap the season, work out the contract and start fresh next year.

I have been a die hard Caps fan all my life, get over the dispute and get back on the ice. A shortened season is better than no season.
