Can someone advise please what type of apparatus is the DCFD "ambulance/bus" assigned @ Station 12? I believe it's now responding on the MCI Metro train crash.

Also, is E12 still running with what looks like possibly a "squirt" apparatus?

Is the station in a decent neighorhood?

Back off, would ya? I'm interested in learning more about DCFD apparatus since I'm not from the District and I'm headed there to take some photos. If you don't like it, ignore my posts and don't read 'em.

So is the Telesquirt no longer out back behind the station?.. That's too bad... looked like an interesting older piece of apparatus to shoot.

Firepix, that would have been the best thing someone could have done.......shoot it and put it out of its horable life. :D

:)

The FFs might not have liked the rig for functionality, etc., but apparatus buffs/photographers might have a different opinion....

Anyone know the fate of the Squirt and where she sits currently?

I saw the KME frankenstein at FMD a week or so ago, it was in a service bay of all places!

And the "Ambulance Bus" @ 12 is actually one of a pair of converted Blue Birds, the other is usually at the academy. They can be operated as 'passenger style' with full front-to-back seating, or 'patient style' with numerous collapsible litters.

It is my understanding they were talking about putting money into the "THING" but that it became cost prohibative... Could be wrong but they would be better off sticking a stake in the hart of McCafferys<sp> lil experiment... What an suckass motha fucker he was!

I assume it's lettered/marked for DCFD? Light Bar?

They are white in color, with white reflective striping. A single DCFEMS emblem is on each side & front & back. They have Code-3 LED lightheads mounted around the perimeter of the vehicle, and there is no lightbar. You could replace the fire emblem with a department of corrections emblem and nobody would ask questions...

The quint was delivered to apparatus division a couple of months ago. the intent was to repair it and place it into the ready reserve fleet to be used in "states of emergency". Considering the list of problems, I'm not surprised that they abandoned the plan to fix it.

Do you know if they plan to auction it off?

I haven't the foggiest. On the other hand, I can tell you that some of the problems included an almost complete malfunction of the ladder pipe mechanisms. I'm not sure you want an piece that's so relatively new, yet has so many problems.
