Does anyone know when DC EMS will hire again? :)

Open announcements are currently posted on the DC Office of Personnel Web Site: EMT Position (http://http://app.dcop.dc.gov/CVA/vacancy.asp?vnum=FB(37)03-12) and Basic Paramedic (http://http://app.dcop.dc.gov/CVA/vacancy.asp?vnum=FB(03)01-03A)

But from what the position vacancy announcement indicates EMT's have to be "bilingual". Is that true, D.C. will only hire EMT's who can fluently (sp?) speak another language? Could I or other applicants be wasting our time filling out applications for this postion? I am just wondering what kind of chance's some of us really have not being "bilingual".

Also..... is there an academy for the DC EMS? I have never gotten a straight yes or no answer.

To the best of my knowledge, the department is no longer hiring civilian
EMT-B's except for bilingual applicants. Civilian EMT-P's are still being hired, but as of now all current and future vacant EMT-B positions will be filled by sworn uniformed Firefighter/EMT's.

What is the official policy on getting re-instated as a paramedic with DCFEMS if you resigned in good standing, and want to come back? I'm guessing there is no real answer to this, but still trying to find out.
