Annapolis City Truck 36 has been picked up by
Fort Meade Fire and Emergency Services.
It is now FMDFES Truck #1
We are taking the time to do some electrical and body work, maybe some lighting upgrades as well.
We are also completing a comprehensive training program for drivers and tiller operators.
This photo was taken just before we took delivery of the unit from AFD.

Chief, that's a good looking truck, is it going to remain yellow?

The truck, now designated as Truck 1 will remain in its current color configuration. Department personnel have touched up the rust and painted the body, and cleaned the under carraige where it needed. This is a great looking truck at 30 feet!!! Runs Great, and it is a fun truck!!
We added some lighting, changed the beacon to a bar and re-wired the brake lights and turn signals to make it work. We equipped it on Monday, 20 December and are now running it just in our first due for the week as we continue to train with it and see if it will stay running.
We ran a EVOC class last week and now have about 15 additional personnel who can wheel the front and the back...

First, you must provide documented proof that you do not now, nor have you ever known Hockey Puck (a.k.a. Warren G.)! LOL. Second you must swear under oath that you will never sell any pictures on ebay!

that explains what i saw leaving the weis parking lot last week , thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Personnally i dont care what you guys bring as a truck, it is just nice to know that "truck 45" is coming , so we dont have to wait 20 mins for a truck, or wonder if an out of county one makes it out the door... Looks great gang !!

Thanks. Now we have truck 2 back (the red straight truck). The only problem now is that on box assignments in parts of 27's area, howard truck 6 and pg tower 10 gets dispatched and not truck 45. On sunday they ran a box to andrew court with the engine and the truck wasn't dispatched. Trucks were howard 6 and pg 10. So you'll still have to wait.

everythings cool with the truck except for the light bar. Couldn't you guys come up with something a little more modern or was it a cost issue.

Can anyone fill us in on what happened with the Truck? I was on post today and it
is definitely sitting in the DRMO (salvage) yard. What's up with that?

Thats because one Chief threaten the other Chiefs and we caught his bluff. Its only the begining, and the next meeting is coming up next month and its not the Chief's meeting.

The truck was picked up from Annapolis City by the retiring Fire Chief of FGGM. The unit was cleaned, painted and stocked. Personnel trained on it to get Class A's or RED CARDS. It ran a couple of calls. State of MD would not issue FEDs RED CARDS!!, Soooo that meant Class A's all around...
The JAG visited the station and said that the use of the truck, and the ownership of the truck constituted a 'gift to the government' and we can't have the City making gifts or, more specifically the Army accepting gifts. In addition, there were no maintenance and repairs funds allocated to the maintenance contractor for the service that was being done (new brakes, engine services, etc.) We were poor before we got it! All monies were going to pay the war fighting efforts... I was directed to give it back... AFD said they didn't want it and it was sent to the DRMO for disposal.
There were other issues, that is just the 'nut shell' version.
Grumpy...

That was short lived...too bad, that's government for you. So does Dunkirk have it now? I saw in another post that they do but will not put it in service...seems like a waste. Oh wait, purchase a truck, but not put it in service....I get it, two words....parade piece! Anyway, not a bad looking truck. I'll be the open cab is cold though

I recently talked to a member at Dunkirk and they will be placing the piece in-service. There was an issue at first because the county did not want to put a piece so old on the road. There future plans is to replace equipment at 15 years. That truck is approx 30 years old now. The county made an agreement with Dunkirk that they will place the unit in service and funds will be set aside in the future for a new truck within the next couple of years. Dunkkirk is in the process of having the unit painted white.

If you go to Firehouse Dolls (http://www.firehousedolls.com/gallery/2005_Photo_Shoots/DSC00145) you can see the back end of the truck in the station.
