Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I want more than just one state to reply.
I am looking for information about either lawsuits or investigations about fire chiefs without any certifications. Basically if something went wrong at a fire scene where a cheif with umpteen years of experience was OIC and a lawsuit was placed against either the chief or the fire department, or both.
Any information or directions as to where I can find this information would be most appreciated. Thanks! :)

I must say this is quite an interesting topic. I dont have any info yet, but am really interested in hearing some myself. Our chief, not worthy of being capitalized, had fire I,II and III back 35 years ago, and thats it. He is clueless, gets carried by his 2 assistant chiefs, Is the total butt of all jokes at the scene of calls, cant even use a radio correctly, no medical, hazmat, rescue etc... And will pull any any any dirty low down trick in the book to remain chief. He is going to get someone hurt or killed. I worry about the young, inexperienced members, being out on a call with him, and no one else. I will watch this thread.!!

a department in NJ just elected a 22 year old as their chief. i've never heard this kid on the radio and have never heard of him working a job. i don't know how much training he has, but it can't be much. i guess it really is how much you buy the night before. just glad i'm not in that town

I am not going to bad mouth my chief, i do believe in the respect of officers. My question was not based on the fact that he doesn't know what hes doing, hes just not certified. I am having trouble finding any information on lawsuits and investigations into these matters. Maybe I am just using the wrong search techniques. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.
