View Full Version : Justice Served

I believe justice has finally been served and the saying an eye for eye has been considered in California (Great to see that they finally got their shit together). Its truly rewarding that a firefighter/paramedic had the guts to appear on TV and speak his mind and tell the truth. After hearing him and some of the Scott Petereson's friends, who testified for him in the death penalty stage, they think he's guilty also. It truly not going to bring the baby and Laci back, but, in my opinion, I think just has been truly served.

Slight problem is that Scott Peterson might not die by the Death Penalty,,it has already been stated he has a better chance of dying in Prison before his Death Penalty is reached. Either way though, it is 1 more Killer off the streets forever!!!!!
too bad they didn`t find OJ guilty........at least they got one right

Like PA, where the prefered method of execution is old age. Keep in mind, the evidence against Peterson was circumstantial. There was no real physical evidence tying him to the murder. Combine that with the judge's decisions on replacing jurors during deliberations in the guilt phase, and Peterson's lawyers have the basis for one hell of an appeal. Not saying I believe the verdict was wrong (I think he did it, and his "somebody read about my alibi and framed me" argument is pretty lame), but this investigation was not handled as well as it should have, and if it was, the prosecution blew the presentation. Stay tuned, this isn't over yet.

I must say that as a member of a civilized society, I find an inherent flaw with capital punishment. It seems abhorently hypocritical to demonstrate to a populace that killing is wrong by putting people to death. The phrase "eye for an eye" was originally a plea for showing mercy to those who had trespassed against a neighbor, not a call for brutal justice. It is also well documented that the death penalty is not a deterent to crime.
That said, I also believe that Scott Petersen was correctly found guilty, and that if the law of the land saw fit to sentence him to death, although I disagree with the concept of capital punishment, I don't picture myself shedding tears at his passing.

Calif. has automatic appeal on any death penalty case, his lawyers only have to fill out the paper work. I too find it distrubing that there was no physical evidence, that should make people VERY nervous. Either he's very sneaky, and knew how to get rid of it all, or he didn't do it.
As far as capitol punishment, the BIBLE says an eye for an eye, and YES the meaning is, if you take a life, you give your life! Funny we discussed this last night at our dept. xmas party. For those who haven't heard Ct. will be putting a man to death in I believe it is Jan. our first in over 40 years. This guy raped and killed 8 women, he has been on death row for over 20 years, he admitted to the crimes, he has asked the Gov. not to stop his execution, he wants to die. The father of one of the girls killed, doesn't believe in capitol punishment. His message to the man, "I'll be there to watch you die, for what you did to my daughter!" Guess it's a different story when it's your daughter who was killed.

Hopewell,
While I do not hold the same views on the death penalty as you, I have always agreed with your statement regarding deterence. Most people who commit murder, especially when they plan it, believe they will get away with it, so the penalty is never seriously considered before committing the crime. I don't subscribe to the "eye for an eye" reasoning, but what are we to do with these people? I refer to the cold-blooded, calculating killers and stalkers. Do you believe they can be rehabilitated and become productive members of society? Should we, as taxpayers, support them for 30, 40, 50 years? I say no to both questions. So while do not believe the death penalty is a deterent, it is the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime.

Folks!! Let's face it........ the reason thet death penalty is unsuccessful as a deterrent is because it is not practiced properly. Hell, Kenneth Tornes should have been put to death. No, he died of an aneurism. Maybe it is just me but my daddy was talking to him while he had the gun in his bag. Trying to console him about being written up. Well, after he said goodbye to my daddy he went into Central Fire Station and killed five and wounded two. I sometimes say that this or that Chief should be shot I don't think I could actually pull the trigger on one of them. I mean I get pissed just like everybody else. But I don't go out killing people. Gee, I wonder why. Sorry, I'll have to finish this in a bit.

Big Joe, I agree with you 100%. We still have the same problems in today's society because we don't use what has been provided to us. Gun control is a joke. There are laws like that on the books that it should put convicts in jail for the maxium years for using a gun in the commission of a crime. Do they use it, Hell no, just a plead bargain door that can used. But some libels want to take guns away from honest citizens. Do you really think that criminals go to gun shops to buy guns? I don't thinks so. Do they use the death penalty when it applies? If were lucky we may see them get it. Its time to start using what we already have, then maybe, just maybe we will have all the senseless killing slowed down or maybe even stop.
Does anyone know the name and address to that firefighter/paramedic in California who was on Peterson's jury? I want to send him a Christmas Card.
Have a Merry Christmas
then maybe, just maybe we will have all the senseless killing slowed down or maybe even stop.
Have a Merry Christmas
sounds good but we have to face it ....senseless killing will never stop....evgen thouhg we all wish it would....................................Merry Chirstmas to you also No Fear

Massachusets proved gun control doesn't work. They have had tough gun laws for years. Did crimes with guns go down at first? YES....BUT, crimes with knives went up...so do you create knife legislation? This country needs to start prosecuting these criminals not plea bargaining with them

Actually I think California already had its assault gun ban in when the two guys held the bank up in North Hollywood. Imagine that guess the cops were caught with their pants down cause hey it is illegal to have an AK-47, so what did they have to worry about. Oh by the way little side note the gun shop that saved the cops by loaning them ar-15s was forced to close by all the gun ban legislation. (theres a real thank you!) Oh and dont say good job yet the judge could change the jurys ruling on death and make it life in prison.
gun control is unamerican...........screw theses asshole politicians who think that it is the way to go....i will never give up my weapons

Scott Peterson was as guilty as they came. He just dyed his hair, grew a goatee and grabbed a load of cash while heading for the border, not realizing they had a GPS on his vehicle. He sold his wife's vehicle, continued to screw that ugly blond, and NEVER even used the fishing equipment that he bought for his so-called trip. On top of that, he told others he was golfing. He is as guilty as they come. Plain and simple. Put the prick to death for what he did to his beautiful wife and unborn child.
You kill someone, you die! WE SHOULD NOT have to pay for someone on death row, no matter what state they are in. To bad it did not happen in Texas - I would have bought popcorn just to watch this killer die.
Do not be surprised if someone in prison kills him for what he did to an unborn child.

The OJ trial was a foregone conclusion. Look at jury selection. They feared rioting like after the Rodney King incident if he was found guilty. So they did the next best thing, fixed the jury and then let OJ get his clock cleaned in civil court.

My belief is that Judge Ito was the greatest problem with that trial, he should have been charged with dereliction of duty! His disregard for the judicial system was almost as big of a travesty as the crime being tried.

But how many Judges have ever been charged with Dereliction & removed from the Bench in due process?
