Very poor water pressure along E Diamond. One dead hydrant which is private. I was on the E Diamond side. Not sure how everyone else made out with water.
H20 Supply was a big issue on this fire. Those Damn private hydrants suck!!! I had to pick up e740's Line at the dead hydrant and complete the lay another 750' beyond to find a hydrant that actually worked.

It's most likely that the private hydrants had no water because the property owners have applied for demolition permits, and as a part of that process, they have to show that all utilities have been shut off. My guess is that the same thing happened as what happened at West Deer Park Apartments: Water supply shut off by WSSC at the meter, which probably was at the connection to the street main, thereby shutting off supply to the private hydrant(s).
The dead hydrant was in the shopping center that was the old mill. The same place where the Firehouse Cue was. Some of the business owners asked why we were not using it. I told them it was dead & to let the property owner know ASAP. My tone of voice told them to give the owner hell since we needed that water for ladder pipes. I'm getting ready to watch the video of the fire
