On the night of Monday January 19th units from Fairfax County and Fairfax City responded to a multi-alarm commercial building fire at the Yorktown Shopping Plaza, located at Arlington Blvd and Gallows Road in Box area 18.
*Note: I didn't hear the initial dispatch on this one, but when I arrived it has just gone to a 4th alarm. I am unsure of the full and final dispatch assignment on this box. I will post additional photos and information as time allows. It's a busy time.
Thanks
Nate

Additional Pics... I apologize for the less than stellar lighting on a few, but as those who were there can attest it was a COLD and windy night, and my camera lens kept getting covered in mist and soot from the blowing smoke, and would then freeze over ( I know, excuses, excuses). Many more to come.
Peace
Nate

So I am assuming that the Tower Ladder working behind Engine 418 was a reserve piece standing in for Truck 410 (or 425)? I am assuming 10 judging by its placement.
Dave Statter (WUSA9) also posted additional information on this incident in his blog, including the official press release from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Take it easy

Another prime example of how Arlington get's the shaft time and time again. I was working that evening (E102), and had no idea of a 4-alarm job going on less than 3 miles away. Not even any units from 106 got assigned. Perhaps we were on other runs, but again, not sure at the moment. How does Tower 425 and Engines 414 and 426 come in ahead of any 106 or 102 units? 102 runs second due to the far east side of Seven Corners with 28! Of course, if there was a chest pains patient way out in Merrifield, they'd call for Medic 106 in a heartbeat. It's completely obsurd that 410 has first due boxes on the west end of the Pike (rightfully so), and West Arlington unit's aren't even on a 4th alarm less than 3 miles from quarters.
Part of the reason you see odd assignments especially on 2nd,3rd and 4th alarms is typically units have already been transferred and they are not coming from their first due. Not using it as a excuse but possibly the reason. Knowing T425 they were probably heading that direction
Or perhaps mutual aid plans had been tweaked given the enormous amount of Fire/EMS resources committed to the DC/Arlington area for the Innauguration just hours later? Just a guess. I have seen Truck 106 on many 18 Box jobs in the past...
