why dont these people confront the UL labs.. they are the ones who must certify these and all basic applicance uses as being considered safe for consumer use. we honor their respectability for decades, as well as promotional free give aways. I will still say 75% of all incidents involving these units are the failure to re install FRESH batterys yearly... if they cant work they DONT work... simple.. many codes have forced them more then just outside bedrooms they are INSIDE as well..I personally have 4 in my home which by law only needs 2....they work fine.. sometimes too good as cooking sets them off. anoying yes, but thats what they do... does this mean consumer education is the root of this.. think about it....
